وهو عضو مجلس أمناء “جامعة الجلالة” منذ سبتمبر/أيلول 2020 وعضو مجلس إدارة كل من “الهيئة العربية للتصنيع” منذ مارس/آذار 2020، و”مجموعة مستشفيات كليوباترا”، و”شركة القاهرة للزيوت والصابون” منذ 18 أبريل/نيسان 2022، و”صندوق المشروعات المصري الأميركي” منذ 2019، و”شركة أي إس جي سي مصر” منذ 2020، و”شركة سيتي إيدج للتطوير العقاري” منذ 2020، وشركة المواد الصحية “ليلاس” في تونس منذ 2019.
كان عضواً في مجلس إدارة “بنك التعمير والإسكان” بين 2019 و2022، و”شركة إيجيبت فودز” بين 2018 و2021، والرئيس التنفيذي ورئيس مجلس إدارة “مجموعة استشارات حلول الأعمال” بين 2018 و2020، وشريكاً في “مجموعة أبراج للاستثمار” في الشرق الأوسط وتركيا وآسيا بين 2012 و2015
كما شغل منصب وزير التجارة والصناعة بين 2015 و2018، وتولى مناصب عدة في “شركة بيبسيكو”، منها: رئيس الشركة لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وإفريقيا بين 2007 و2012، ونائب الرئيس للعمليات للشرق الأوسط وإفريقيا وباكستان وتركيا بين 2006 و2007، ورئيس مجلس الإدارة في مصر وشمال إفريقيا بين 1999 و2006، ونائب الرئيس لمنطقة شمال شرق إفريقيا بين 1994 و1999.
عمل مدير العمليات في الشركة العربية لأنابيب البترول “سوميد” بين 1979 و1983، إضافةً إلى عمله في “شركة بروكتر أند جامبل” بين 1983 و1994.
يملك أكثر من 40 عاماً من الخبرة المهنية في الحوكمة والأسهم الخاصة والسلع الاستهلاكية. حاصل على بكالوريوس في الهندسة الميكانيكية عام 1979 من “جامعة الإسكندرية”.
Tarek Kabil is former minister of trade and industry for Egypt from Sep 2015 to Aug 2018. He was a major player in the economic reforms program and led the industrial production growth to be the highest in the world in 2017. He reduced
trade deficit by 20bn $ (35%) in two years and boost export by more than 15% annually. He created important new institutions to regulate Trade and industry and fuel the growth in Egypt. previously he was a partner in Abraaj capital and the head
of the Abraaj Performance Acceleration Group, where he leads more than 40 Partner Company for The Abraaj Group’s businesses in the MENA region and all FMCG’s companies around the globe.
Previously, Mr. Kabil held leadership positions in PepsiCo for 18 years, most recently the president of PepsiCo International for the Middle East and Africa region.
Tarek is a seasoned and experienced executive who joined PepsiCo as Technical Director for Egypt and North Africa in 1994. In 1997 he assumed the role of Franchise Vice President for North East Africa. Then in 1999, he assumed the role of Chairman of the board and CEO of our newly acquired beverages business in Egypt. Tarek and his team were able in one year, to move the company from
significant loss to profit and re-gain market leadership. Egypt won the Market unit of the year for PepsiCo International in 2000. Tarek’s role was then expanded to include North Africa Franchise countries and in 2003, he was promoted to North
Africa Business Unit General Manager and Snacks was added to his portfolio. Egypt and North Africa doubled the profit and tripled revenue in 3 years. In June 2006, Tarek was promoted to the Middle East and Africa Regional Vice president
of Operations role and was instrumental in reshaping the function to drive significant productivity gains, develop the region strategy to change its product portfolio and staffing all new roles with a team capable of supporting PepsiCo’s
future growth and innovation strategies.
In 2007, Tarek was promoted to president for Middle East and Africa region (MEA). MEA is again one of the largest regions in PepsiCo (~ $ 7.0Bn in retail value) , present in over 43 countries and consist of 15000 people.
Prior to PepsiCo, Tarek worked for 12 years in Procter and Gamble in USA, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. He started in early 1983 in Albany Georgia as a mechanical engineer for the paper business. In the end of 1984, he moved to Jeddah Saudi Arabia and led the start up of P&G paper business in GCC. He moved up the ladder to Maintenance Department Manager, then Operations Group Manager. In
1987, he won the P&G world-class manufacturing award for best performance. In 1992, he moved to Egypt as plant manager then was promoted to product supply director.
From 1979 to 1983, Tarek worked for Arab petroleum pipelines company (SUMED) as Mechanical engineer.
Tarek is a graduate of Alexandria University in Egypt in 1979 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is married and has two boys
